Getting Started with curatify — Shopify Collection Sort Setup Guide

Why manual collection sort matters

Shoppers judge your store by what they see first. When a sold-out product sits at the top of a manual collection, you lose clicks before the customer finds something they can buy. curatify fixes this automatically.

Step 1: Install from the Shopify App Store

Search for curatify in the Shopify App Store and click Install. Grant permissions for products and inventory — curatify needs read_products, read_inventory, and write_products to reorder manual collections.

Setup time

Under 2 minutes. No code, no theme edits, no developer required.

Step 2: Enable the app in Settings

Open Settings in the curatify admin and turn the app on. Choose your restore behavior:

  • Original position — product returns where it was before selling out
  • Top of collection — product moves to position 1 on restock

Run Sync sold-out products once if you already have sold-out items that need a backfill.

Step 3: Enable collections

Go to Collections and enable push-down sorting on the manual collections you want curatify to manage. Free plan: up to 5 collections and 50 tracked products. Growth and Pro raise those limits.

Important: curatify works with manual collections. If Shopify is sorting a collection by best sellers, price, or date, curatify shows it as blocked until the collection uses Manual sort in Shopify Admin.

Step 4: Verify it is working

Reduce inventory on a test variant (or use an existing sold-out product). Within seconds, curatify moves it to the bottom of enabled collections.

Check Activity in the curatify dashboard to see reorder, restore, and sync events with timestamps.

Optional: Pin hero products (Growth & Pro)

On Growth or Pro, open Pinning to lock featured SKUs at the top of a collection. Growth allows up to 5 pins per collection; Pro is unlimited. Sold-out pinned products still move to the bottom.

Works with every theme

curatify sorts collections server-side via the Shopify API. This includes Online Store 2.0 themes, legacy themes, and headless storefronts. Zero impact on page load speed.
